Jamie Redknapp says the referee's decision to disallow Aston Villa's equaliser at Wolves for Morgan Rogers' offside was the "wrong decision" and Unai Emery's side were "really unlucky" to see it chalked off.
With Wolves winning 1-0 in the second half, Donyell Malen touched home into an empty net at the far post from a well-worked free-kick but the offside flag went up against Rogers, who impeded defender Nelson Semedo in the build-up.
Leon Bailey slipped in John McGinn down the left of the penalty area from the free-kick but Rogers - in an offside position - stepped in Semedo's way to stop him getting to the Villa captain. McGinn then crossed for Malen to score.
The PGMOL said the goal was disallowed because Rogers impacted "the ability of Semedo to play or challenge for the ball" - but Redknapp argued the Wolves defender was never getting to McGinn in time anyway - and the goal should have stood.
"Let's be honest. Wolves have had a lot of bad decisions against them, and they do certainly get a little bit of luck here. It's a contentious one.
"I understand Unai Emery, the players and the fans wondering how on earth has this not been given.
"Rogers gets into a position and tries to block him. Does he impede him enough? It's not enough. Not for me.
"As a defender, Semedo is looking at the wall. Instead, he has McGinn outside him and would need to change his body position to see McGinn and the ball. If Rogers doesn't make that run, McGinn is still in anyway. But because it's a set piece routine, he obviously does it.
"Rogers doesn't need to do anything because Semedo is not alive. He should be checking his shoulder and knowing what's behind him. And Rogers actually doesn't really do a lot.
"You can even see that once the ball goes in, Semedo doesn't even complain. He puts his hands up in the air and says: 'they've done me'. He wasn't impeded. Villa are really unlucky.
"I just don't think Rogers impedes him enough. That's a wrong decision. He doesn't do enough to really stop Semedo, who isn't affected by it. That's why I think they have got it wrong.
"If Rogers had got a hold of him and stopped him: I would say absolutely because you're trying to be too clever, you're offside and you're impeding him and you're obstructing him from getting to stop the cross."
Redknapp also argued that Aston Villa's set piece coaches - led by Emery's assistant manager Austin McPhee - may be "too clever for their own good" after that routine.
Villa have scored nine goals from set pieces in the Premier League this season - only Arsenal (10) have managed more.
"The set piece coaches are very smart in terms of the set pieces - but they're almost too clever for their own good," he added.
"Because of Semedo's poor position, they actually didn't even need to do that [Rogers move]. You could have slid the ball down the side, played it across goal and got the goal anyway."

Meanwhile, Villa manager Emery was coy on whether the goal should have stood - but admitted that VAR are "making mistakes" this season.
"I don't know because it's VAR's task," he told Sky Sports after the game.
"The assistant [coaches], they watched it and told me it was not offside because he didn't touch the ball. But it's VAR's task and I believe in VAR.
"If I say something different, I am not in the right way with my thoughts. But even sometimes VAR, they are making mistakes."
However, Emery also admitted his Villa side did not deserve anything from the 90 minutes due to their performance.
Villa fell behind in the first half through Jean-Ricner Bellegarde's opener, before Matheus Cunha sealed the result late on with a goal on the break.
"We tried. We started very well in the first 10 to 15 minutes but they scored the goal," Emery added. "It was more difficult to come back with the result, the end of the first half we were so, so bad. They had chances to score the second goal because in transitions we weren't controlling them.
"The second half we made some changes, we tried to push with fresh legs and tried to have some options to score one goal or to compete better than the first half. We did it, but it was not enough. If we scored one goal, it might have been different, then they scored in the last minute. But in the 90 minutes, we didn't deserve more."
